ALS Custodial specialises in anti-ligature and safety critical products for prisons, police custody suites, courts and other secure environments. We are not a general builders merchant with a safety section. Custodial and secure settings are what we do.

Unlike many suppliers, we both manufacture our own specialist ligature resistant products and supply carefully selected products from leading manufacturers around the world.

That matters because it means we can recommend a solution based on your requirements, rather than steering you toward the only range we happen to carry. If the right answer is someone else’s product, we will tell you.

Anti-ligature and vandal resistant claims vary considerably between manufacturers, and there is no single industry wide test that applies to every product and application. We believe independent testing and transparent product information matter.

Where applicable we identify products independently tested under the Ministry of Justice Safer Cell Programme or by the Building Research Establishment under its Informed Choices programme. ALS operates an ISO 9001 quality management system, and products we manufacture are tested through our sister company Lig-Safe for ligature resistance, robustness and fitness for purpose.

Our support extends throughout the project lifecycle: product selection, technical specification, procurement, installation, testing, documentation and ongoing support.
